The Chieftains are an Irish musical group founded in 1963, known for performing and popularizing Irish traditional music. Sinéad Marie O'Connor (born December 8, 1966) is an Irish singer and songwriter. Foggy Dew is a lamentful ballad of a young lover. It was published on a broadside around 1916, though Burl Ives, who popularized the song in the 1940s, claimed that it dated to colonial America.
